In keeping with ancient Chinese Medicine traditions, Michelle is committed to encouraging wellness by providing treatments that help the body naturally rebalance and heal itself. Her understanding of and passion for living in harmony with nature constitutes a strong seasonal approach to her work. That approach enables the body to thrive during seasonal transitions and helps prevent future disharmonies.
Common Western pathologies Michelle treats with Chinese medicine include fertility imbalances, autoimmune diseases, obesity, insomnia, IBS, cancer, allergies, pain management, detoxification, emotional/physical trauma, and more.
Chinese Medicine modalities used for treatment may include:
- Acupuncture (with or without electro-stimulation)
- Chinese Herbal prescriptions
- Eastern nutritional counseling
- Cupping
- Guasha
- Tuina and/or Auricular Therapy (ear needles or seeds)
Michelle also uses essential oils to enrich her treatments. She has studied the oils for more than a decade and has completed extensive study with Peter Holmes, founder of Snow Lotus essential oils. She finds that most patients connect deeply with the oils, gain more confidence and control over self-healing, and quickly build their home apothecary to care for themselves (and their families) outside of her treatment room.
Michelle’s enthusiasm and warm connection with patients builds rapport and a trusting patient-practitioner relationship. She encourages patient involvement and education to promote the empowerment, awareness, and motivation needed to make healthy lifestyle choices. She believes healing begins with a conscious, mindful effort, as well as patients taking control of and responsibility for their own healing.
Over the past several years, Michelle has been honored to work with the integrative team at the Raby Institute and build upon her Chinese Medicine foundation. Merging Eastern and Western medicine has opened up a world of healing possibilities for herself and patients alike. Functional medicine seminars, detoxification programs, fertility trainings, and metabolic makeover sessions only scratch the surface of experiences and exposure she has had at the Raby Institute.
Michelle is NCCAOM Certified and a member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the Illinois Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine.
In addition to individual treatments, Michelle teaches essential oils classes at the Raby Institute and runs the Detox Program with Naturopathic Doctor, Kathy Chavez.
