When you visit the Raby Institute, or call with a question, to make an appointment or just to say hello, Ana is the smiling face that welcomes you and is the compassionate voice on the line. As Patient Coordinator for the Raby Institute, Ana’s dedication to insuring that each patient’s visit is a healing experience is apparent in everything she does, from greeting patients as they walk through the door to explaining office procedures and protocols and providing encouragement on their way out.
Born and raised on Chicago’s North side, Ana’s personal history is steeped in holistic healing, spiritual exploration and a constant focus on maintaining positive energy and balance in her life. In the Rodriguez family, discomfort and disease were more often cured with an herbal tea, a home-made remedy or prayer than a trip to the doctor. This early experience of integrative healing has influenced Ana throughout her life and she is pleased to now be a part of making integrative medicine more a part of our mainstream healthcare system.
Prior to entering the world of integrative medicine, Ana had a very successful career in broadcast journalism at NBC’s WMAQ-TV Channel 5 and WGN Channel 9 in Chicago. During her 13 years at Channel 5 she won 3 Emmys for her coverage of breaking news stories. At WGN, Ana served as a Producer with the News Specials Unit until 2000, writing and producing special segments that ranged from hard hitting investigative reports to fashion fads and travel. She had the opportunity to serve as Unit Manager during the Pope’s Visit to Cuba in January, 1998, as well as on a trip to the Dominican Republic to cover Sammy Sosa during Hurricane Georges. From 2001 until 2007, Ana worked as the fill-in Assignment Editor on the shift no one wants…the overnights.
Ana began working with Dr. Raby at Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group’s Center for Integrative Medicine in January of 2007 and has been with the Raby Institute since it launched in October 2008. She dedicates her free time to following her passion for writing. She has done freelance writing in Chicago and Los Angeles and is currently working on her first screenplay.
